It’s a 2017 Subaru WRX, and I’ve been dreaming of wrapping it for some time to really make it stand out. Problem is, I have no idea where to start when it comes to finding good vinyl material. I’ve been doing some online browsing, but there’s so much out there, and I really don’t want to go with something that’ll peel off in a month or, even worse, damage my car’s paint job.
I’m not planning a full color change, just something fun. I’ve been thinking of going with a matte black finish with some cool accent designs—maybe a subtle red or silver accent to match the brake calipers. I’m also looking for something that can handle the weather where I live. I’ve heard horror stories about vinyl that doesn’t hold up in harsh conditions, so that’s definitely a concern for me.
I’m definitely leaning toward DIY on this one. I’ve wrapped a few smaller things before so I’m not completely clueless when it comes to the process. But for something like a full car wrap, I definitely want to make sure I have the best materials before diving in.
I’ve also been thinking about design ideas—should I stick with something relatively simple, or go for something more elaborate? I’ve seen some people do insane gradients or even full custom graphics with vinyl. I’m leaning toward a simple, clean look (maybe with some stripes or a geometric pattern) because I don’t want to go too over the top, but I’d love to hear what others think in terms of creativity vs. practicality.
